  • Four egg whites
  • 200 grams of caster sugar (1 cup)
  • 300 grams of Nutella

Below are the step-by-step instructions to follow to cook the Nutella Meringues recipe.

Step 1: preheat the oven

You start by setting and preheating the oven to 110°C(225°F). Then, line parchment baking sheets.

Step 2: separate and whisk white eggs

The next step is separating the egg whites from the yolk. Crack each egg at a time and put the egg whites in a mixing bowl.

After collecting the egg whites from all your eggs, use your hand or electric mixer to whisk the whites at a medium-low speed until stiff peaks form.

Step 3: Whisk as you add the caster sugar

At this stage, continue beating the egg whites while adding sugar a little bit at a time.

 I added one tablespoon of sugar and waited for about 15 seconds between each addition.

 Once you add all the sugar, the mixture should be stiff, shiny and almost triple in volume.

Step 4: Transfer the mixture to a pastry

Next, transfer the batter into a pastry bag, pipe about a 2-inch drop of meringue onto the prepared sheets.

Ensure that you leave at least 2 inches in between the dollops.

You can use a butter knife or a small rubber spatula to gently shape the meringues dollops into rounds if they are too tall or desired.

Step 5: Place the baking trays into the preheated oven and bake

It will be time to place the baking trays into the preheated oven and bake at this stage.

First, bake the meringues for 20 minutes. Then lower the temperature to 76°C (170°F) and bake for 40 more minutes until they look slightly golden. 

Step 6: Remove the meringues from the oven

Next, turn off the oven and leave the baked meringues in the oven for about 30 minutes.

 That enables them to dry completely and minimize the risk of the meringues sustaining large cracks.

Lastly, remove the Nutella meringues and store them at room temperature in an airtight container that is free from moisture.
